Director NBEMSA / CCPEPC
Patrick’s career in public safety spans 22 years. He completed his undergraduate at CCSU in sociology with a minor in criminology and holds a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling. He is a nationally registered and state licensed paramedic and EMS-Instructor and professional counselor associate. He has been with New Britain EMS for 20 years working as an EMT, Field Training Officer, paramedic, Shift Lieutenant and Lieutenant of Professional Standards.
Patrick now serves as the Captain of Professional Standards and Training for New Britain EMS. In this role he manages internal training, education, staff development, quality improvement, and community outreach for the New Britain EMS operations division as well as functioning as the Director of the New Britain EMS Academy and CCPEPC.
Victor’s career in emergency services spans over 34 years. He has functioned in many aspects in EMS including the military, rural, suburban and urban environments. Victor is a retired state Firefighter/Paramedic after twenty combined years with Bradley International Airport Fire Rescue and the University of Connecticut Health Center Fire Department. He has taught at the paramedic level for over sixteen years serving in the role has adjunct faculty and clinical educator. He has a bachelor’s degree from Charter Oak State College, is pursing his master’s in education and is an Emergency Medical Services Instructor. Victor worked for New Britain EMS has a per diem paramedic and after his retirement from the fire service became a shift Lieutenant.
He is the lead instructor and director for the Central Connecticut Paramedic Education Program consortium. Victor brings a wealth of experience and compassion for teaching. He is a highly motivated and dedicated member of the Academy staff.
Emily began her career with New Britain EMS as an EMT in 2017 in our operations division. In 2021 she transitioned to the Academy to take on the role of training center coordinator. Emily holds her bachelor’s in public health with a concentration in community outreach. She is also a certified EMS-Instructor. In addition to her training center coordinator roles, Emily serves as adjunct faculty to our EMT programs, NREMT exam coordinator, and she provides community outreach for the organization.
Jason’s career in emergency services started over 17 years ago. He graduated from CCSU with his undergraduate degree in Criminology with a minor in business management. He has worked for many different facets of emergency services including commercial, private, and volunteer. He eventually worked his way from an EMT to a licensed paramedic. Since 2010, Jason has called New Britain EMS home where he has been part of the bike team, safety team, honor guard and a valuable asset to the academy.
He brings compassion, enthusiasm and dedication for the profession to each class. Along with being an Ct EMS Instructor and licensed paramedic, Jason holds numerous credentials including Mental Health First Aid instructor, ACLS instructor, PALS instructor, BLS CPR instructor, and Stop the Bleed Instructor.
Instructor Hess is a Nationally Registered and Ct licensed paramedic with over 13 years of field, educational, quality improvement, and supervisory experience. He has a background in city and urban EMS with experience delivering care as both a transport and intercept medic. Instructor Hess is a Connecticut EMS-Instructor as well as a PALS, ACLS, and BLS instructor. He holds is bachelor’s of science from Charter Oak State College and is pursuing his graduate degree. Matt has been involved in EMS education since 2015 and also remains active as a senior paramedic with the New Britain EMS Operations Division.
