New Britain Emergency Medical Services Academy provides healthcare education, training, and support to the greater New Britain community. This includes lay public, day cares, healthcare providers and general business and industry.
The EMS Academy, which began as our Community Training Center in 2006 and later established as the New Britain EMS Academy in January 2010, has quickly grown to become one of the premier EMS and Allied Health training centers in Connecticut. Annually our Academy staff trains over 3,000 clients, including lay persons, athletic coaches, daycare providers, firefighters, students, police officers, healthcare providers, and EMS professionals through our various educational opportunities.
Designated as an American Heart Association Community Training Center (CTC) it is s a key component to the national AHA Training Network. Our large network of affiliated instructors provide healthcare education to clients that include the Consolidated School District of New Britain, the New Britain Fire Department, the Hartford Job Corps Academy, Trinity College, CCSU, and multiple other private business and industries located within Connecticut and Massachusetts.
Comprehensive EMS Training
In addition to our American Heart Association courses, New Britain EMS Academy provides initial and recertification training for the EMS industry, including EMR, EMT, and Paramedic training courses. Annually we offer two paramedic training programs, nine EMT programs, as well as EMR initial training on request. In addition to our initial courses we offer ongoing live in person and distance learning continuing education for EMR, EMT, and paramedic in accordance with the NREMT NCCR requirements. Whether you are looking to explore a career in EMS, or you are an agency such as law enforcement or the fire service, seeking initial training or recertification. We have the healthcare education courses to suit your needs.
We employ a diverse fulltime and part-time educational staff to meet a variety of needs. We have over 20 faculty members that are certified EMS-Instructors under the CT Department of Health as well as numerous educational assistants with varying areas of expertise. While we host the majority of course at our facility in New Britain, for large groups we will also travel to you. We have experience in healthcare training for small community groups as well as large corporations.

We are pleased to continue to deliver high quality and relevant professional development opportunities for the EMS providers of today. While NBEMSA offers ongoing regularly scheduled AHA, EMT, and paramedic training programs we do offer other programs that can be scheduled upon request. Additionally, throughout our calendar year, we offer special one-time education programs outside of our regular running education programs as they become available. These include EMS-Instructor, CADS, Escaping Violent Encounters, IPMBA EMS Cyclist, and more.
